The East Kootenays is world renowned
for its trout fishing and majestic scenery. Wild populations of
westslope cutthroat trout, rainbow, brook, and mountain bull trout
(actually a Char) are found in our mountain lakes, rivers and streams.
As well, Mountain whitefish, kokanee Salmon, and Bass are resident
species.
From ice off in late April to the late fall, flyfishing
adventures abound in the East Kootenays. Be one of the first on
mountain lakes after the ice melts to take advantage of the feeding
that big hungry Rainbow trout do.
Catch trout in solitude from
a float tube on an Alpine lake, walk a quiet section of a stream
stalking Cutthroat and Bull Trout from pool to pool, or even
bring the whole family out for a memorable fishing trip.
